This chocolate cake recipe that I found on Pinterest is so incredibly good! Plus, it is really easy to make. SCORE!

1 box of vanilla instant pudding
1 box of chocolate instant pudding
4 eggs
3/4 cup of oil
1 cup of sour cream
1/2 of a 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Hot fudge (or chocolate syrup) – Optional

Mix all ingredients together for 2 minutes.
Pour half the batter in a bundt pan and pour half of the remaining chocolate chips in.
Pour in the rest of the batter and sprinkle on remaining chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

I topped my cake with some hot fudge that I happened to have on hand. It was delicious!

Slow Cooker Gingerbread Pudding Cake

I love dessert. I really love EASY desserts. And let me tell you, this is an easy dessert! It is a recipe I found on Pinterest and made during Spring Break last week. Doesn’t it look yummy?

Gingerbread Mix
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of raisins (I left those out…on purpose!)
2-1/4 cup water
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup butter

1. Grease the inside of the slow cooker.
2. Mix gingerbread mix and milk. Batter will be thick. Pour into cooker and spread out evenly.
3. Put the water, brown sugar and butter into a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes uncovered.
4. Pour mixture over the gingerbread batter in the cooker. It will seem like there is way too much water, but that is okay. It is what makes the ooey gooey pudding part.
5. Turn on high and cover with a lid. Cook on high for 2 hours.
6. Turn off and uncover. Let sit for 30-45 minutes to cool a little bit.
7. Serve warm! And add a little vanilla ice cream on top!

Delicious! What’s been your favorite Pinterest recipe that you have tried out?

Roasted Garlic, Pesto and Chicken Pizza

With Spring Break giving me some much needed time to just “be”, I decided to try some Pinterest recipes I’ve pinned. So last night I made Roasted Garlic, Pesto and Chicken Pizza. (the original site from the Pinterest pin is Pie Birds, Buttons, and Muddy Puddles.  There is a step by step tutorial on this site.). FYI: I did not make my own crust, but bought some artizan pizza crust at Walmart.

2 pizza crusts
Jar of pesto
Head of garlic, roasted. See how to roast garlic at Pie Birds, Buttons, and Muddy Puddles.
2 cups of mozzarella cheese
1 cup of Parmesan cheese
2-3 cups of chopped chicken

Preheat oven to whatever the package of crusts says.
Mash roasted garlic and spread 1/2 over one pizza crust.
Pour 1/2 a jar of pesto onto the crust and spread evenly.
Place 1/2 of the chopped chicken onto your crust.
Top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
Sprinkle 1/2 cup Paemesan cheese over the mozzarella cheese.

Bake for 10-15 minutes, depending on the crust and what the packaging says.

I have to say that my family loved it! It was different and had great flavor. We will definitely be making this again! Doesn’t the picture look yummy?

Making A Pin With PicMonkey

I found a cool toy through Mary DeMuth! She has created a free PDF file with step-by-step instructions on how to create a Pinterest Pin with PicMonkey. You can find the instructions on her site HERE.

I uploaded one of my own pictures on the PicMonkey…which is FREE by the way…and added text.

Once you have your picture, save it to your computer, then upload it to your blog. Once you have your blog post published, you can then upload it into Pinterest. Just go to your Pinterest page, click the Add button, then Add Pin. Paste in the URL of your blog post, pick the picture you want to be pinned, then Pin! The Pin will directly be linked to you blog.

Vacation Day = Craft Day

I took the day off work yesterday and boy, did I have fun! I made it a Craft Day and had some fun with spray paint. So today, I thought I’d share what I did.

First, I saw the cutest thing on Pinterest. (click on the Pinterest link for a tutorial…you will need to click again on the picture in pinterest to take you to the tutorial) You save up jars, like pasta sauce jars, pickle jars, etc., clean then up, then spray paint the lids. You get cute knobs from Hobby Lobby, then attach them to your lid. Fill the jar up with something fun, and you have an inexpensive gift! Here is what I made:

And look at all the cute knobs I got at Hobby Lobby! They were having a 50% off sale, so I stocked up. They were only about $2 a knob. This is what I am doing for Christmas gifts this year!

Next, I had a mirror that was just kinda blah. It was a grey stone looking mirror that I really didn’t like anymore. So, I decided to paint it.

I think it turned out fabulous!!!!! Then I put it in the living room and rearranged a bit.

Then I didn’t like the look and decided to spray paint the little table black. How do you like my little Titus, sitting so nicely for his picture? Here it is again with the table black. (with Titus not sitting still this time)

I like it better. It pops now.

My daughter is moving into an apartment in August and some friends gave us an old end table. So I pulled out another paint can and spayed away. It looks cute, doesn’t it?

How’s that for a before and after? I’m pleased, and I hope my daughter will be too!

So that was my day of crafting. I had to take some aspirin last night because my hand was aching so bad from all that spraying! lol…the joys of aging are increasing.

Happy Friday! Do you have big plans for the weekend?

A Plethora of Thought

No theme today. Just a big ol’ mess of my thoughts. There’s just some days that thoughts don’t come. Nothing brilliant comes to mind. It’s just a pile of various things that I’m thinking about.

SQUIRREL! (Anybody ever see the movie UP?)

Yeah, squirrel is a good descriptor.

CASTLE: So, what did you think about the Castle season finale? I know most people were so glad that Castle and Beckett finally got together, but a blog post by Jenny B. Jones really said what I couldn’t quite put my finger on. You can read her post HERE, if you so desire. I posted Jenny’s link in Facebook and it got some Castle-watchers talking. If you write romance, you probably feel like I did – that the “getting together” was too rushed. I won’t get into all the nuances here, but Jenny’s post sure made me think!

WRITING: I’m still trying to work through My Book Buddy and get my plot worked out for my new story. It’s slow going, mainly because I’ve been trying to keep up with laundry better, keep my house straighter, keep my kitchen sinks shiny, and the toilets not so gross. Yeah, some things are kind of important that way.

MOTHER’S DAY: My parents and my in-laws are coming over Sunday evening for dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day. My kids…except my daughter, who is in Austin at UT…will be there. And I don’t have to cook! Gotta love that. So I’ve been perusing Pinterest, trying to find some cute, easy craft to do for gifts. What do you think…

I Love You Frame

Family Key Chain

I need something easy that I can make tonight. 🙂 What do you think?

WEIGHT LOSS/GAIN: I almost didn’t go to Weight Watchers last night. I knew I had been bad and had eaten out way more than I should have, and was pretty sure I’d gained a few pounds. I went anyway and was surprised that I gained only 1 pound. So here’s to a new week of eating well.

BLOG VACATION: I’m taking a short hiatus from blogging next week, because I am taking three days vacation and going on a writing retreat with a friend! We are going to her river house about an hour away and staying Monday through Wednesday. No internet! Just writing! I’ve never done this before and I am so incredibly excited!

I’ll be back next Friday sharing about my exciting Writing Adventure at the river house. So have fun next week!

What fun things do you have planned for Mother’s Day?

Just Do It…Pinterest Style

One of my DIY Pins

So I joined Pinterest back when hardly anyone knew what it was. I have 26 boards and over 1400 pins. I even have 217 followers, almost as much as my blog. It’s an interesting phenomenon and Jody Hedlund blogged about it yesterday on her website. I do believe she has sold many of her followers on Pinterest. 🙂

Pinning has been a fun pastime, and I’ve made a few things that I found on it…some bracelets, some cute magnets, and a few Weight Watcher recipes. But I’ve decided I really need to step it up and get busy creating some of these wonderful ideas. Why?

Because I am going to get my Christmas presents made early!

Because I need to create!

Because I need to have presents on hand to give away at a moments notice!

So here is what I started last night:

Crusty Bread!

Looks yummy, huh? It took me all of 5 minutes to mix together the flour, salt, yeast and water. I covered it with plastic wrap and set it aside. When I get home from work tomorrow, I will cook it in a hot ceramic dutch oven and have some wonderful crusty bread. The cool thing about this bread is you can add ingredients to it to change it up. Think about it…cheddar jalepeno, cranberry almond orange, pepper jack, raisin walnut cinnamon, or thyme green onion, Swiss. Mmmmm!!!

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

So tell me, do you do Pinterest? Check out my boards and pins HERE to see how fun it is!
